SKIN CANCER AND MELANOMA
Description
Basal Cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinomas are the most common skin cancers due to too much ultraviolet exposure (sun). These lesions can mimic normal glandular growths and rashes, so a skin exam by a trained provider is imperative. Basically skin cancers will continue to grow unless treated. Lesions of concern are those that don’t heal, bleed easily and are changing color. It is very unusual for a skin cancer to fall off and disappear.
Treatments Available
While most skin cancers need to be treated surgically, there are now other treatments for early skin cancers that involve only topical creams and sometimes light and lasers. At Pennoyer Dermatology, we strive to use the latest technologies and innovations to treat skin cancers or pre-cancers in their earliest stage, thus avoiding the need for more surgery.
