DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers allow patients to turn back the clock by dramatically reducing the standing wrinkles or loss of collagen. They are a popular treatment option because of their effectiveness, immediacy, cost and relative lack of recovery time. Fillers yield results such as dramatic wrinkle reduction, fuller lips, and even minor facial reshaping. While many patients focus on their face and necks, fillers can also be used on the hands which are often a telltale sign of age, with a loss of elasticity and enlarged veins. Facial fillers can even remedy stretched out earlobes that reverse the damage done by years of wearing heavy earrings. While results are temporary, they can be repeated to provide seamless rejuvenation.

Following treatment, no exercise or alcohol for 24 hours; no air travel for 4-5 days as the pressurization will create bruising. (There is always a risk of bruising and swelling, which generally lasts 3-6 days. We recommend icing post procedure and using arnica topically and orally.)

Description
Fillers are a great compliment to BOTOX® and Dysport® injections and/or laser resurfacing to address facial folds and wrinkles. Fillers also work to replace lost facial volume, which is a natural effect of aging. In addition to restoring facial volume, fillers can be used to augment the lips and even reshape the face, thereby giving the appearance of higher cheekbones or a stronger chin. In all these applications, dermal fillers provide good clinical results that last from four months to 2 years.

There are many types of dermal fillers which yield different results. When considering which filler is right for you, consider the amount of correction you are looking to achieve, the length of time you would like the correction to last and the amount of downtime you have. With these questions answered, Dr. Pennoyer would be pleased to advise you on which filler is right for you. Our goal is to make you look like yourself, refreshed and more youthful.

A key factor in determining the success rate is the ability of the doctor performing the procedure. Even with the same product, results can vary drastically depending on the expertise of the physician performing the procedure. Did you know that over one million doctors are allowed to perform injectables and fillers in the U.S., but less than 3% are qualified to be an Expert Injector? Dr. Pennoyer has demonstrated the extreme due diligence in patient safety, reliable results and consumer education to be certified as an Expert Injector. We encourage all of our patients to ask for the credentials of their injector. In our office, Dr. Pennoyer is the only injector of dermal fillers.

Recovery
In most cases, injections can be performed with minimal swelling, enabling patients to return to work or their regular activities immediately.

There may be some minor side effects including, but are not limited to: headache, bruising pain during injections, asymmetry (one side not exactly like the other) twitching, and numbness.

Safety
