What is CoolSculpting?
The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure is the only FDA-cleared,*non-surgical fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise. The results are proven, noticeable, and lasting—so you’ll look great from every angle.
- Eliminates Fat
How CoolSculpting Works
The notion that cold can target fat cells—without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue—is the basis of cryolipolysis, the proven science on which the CoolSculpting procedure is based.
The study began at Harvard University where researchers observed that some children who ate popsicles got dimples in their cheeks, which signified that the popsicles were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells.
The science is proven. The technology is proven.
The CoolSculpting procedure is based on sound science and years of research which allows CoolSculpting to safely deliver precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target fat cells underneath the skin. These treated cells become frozen/crystallized, and then die off- allowing your body to naturally process the fat and eliminate these dead cells.

Are You A Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?
A good candidate is someone who is in good health, eats well and exercises regularly, but has one or more areas of stubborn fat that won’t seem to go away. Specifically designed to treat subcutaneous fat, which is fat you can pull or grab, CoolSculpting can treat areas that display this type of fat.
CoolSculpting patients can be either male or female, as long as they have realistic expectations and goals. It is also important for patients to realize that CoolSculpting is not a substitution for weight loss. Non-surgical CoolSculpting reduces the number of fat cells in the treated area, whereas losing weight reduces the size of fat cells.

Your Treatment Plan: Customized to Your Body
Everyone’s Body is Different
Your CoolSculpting clinician will work with you on the best treatment plan tailored to your needs. It may take as little as one office visit to achieve your goals. With different applicators to choose from, your clinician can design a treatment plan that can give you your desired results.
Eliminate Fat Where the Bulges Really Bother You
For some people, a customized treatment plan may include more than one CoolSculpting treatment. For example, you may want freeze away fat from your inner and/or outer thighs—and also get rid of that muffin top. Some practices have multiple CoolSculpting systems and can treat different body areas at the same time.
It’s a Holistic Approach to your Body-Sculpting Transformation
Your physician will provide a clinical recommendation of which areas should be treated and how many treatments you will need. The result? The sculpted shape you want.
Your Treatment Day:
During your treatment, a gel pad and applicator will be applied to the targeted area. The CoolSculpting applicator delivers controlled cooling to the targeted fat. During your procedure, feel free to read, check email, or even take a nap. Since the procedure is completely non-surgical, you can typically return to normal activities immediately. Patients often return to work on the same day after a treatment is completed.
You can expect a gradual reduction in the size of the treated area over a 90 day period. Some patients may even see a continued reduction up to six months post-treatment. Some may benefit from more than one treatment in more than one area based on the volume of fat. Six to eight weeks after the initial treatment, a determination can be made about a course of action based on your desired results.
