DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers allow patients to turn back the clock by dramatically reducing the standing wrinkles or loss of collagen. They are a popular treatment option because of their effectiveness, immediacy, cost and relative lack of recovery time. Fillers yield results such as dramatic wrinkle reduction, fuller lips, and even minor facial reshaping. While results are temporary, they can be repeated to provide seamless facial rejuvenation.

Dermal Fillers include:

  • Radiesse®
  • Juvéderm Ultra®
  • Juvéderm Volbella®
  • Voluma®
  • Sculptra®
  • Restylane® Silk
  • Restylane® Lyft
  • Restylane® Refyne & Restylane® Defyne
  • Belotero®

NOTE: Prior to all filler treatments, stop fish oil, Advil (ibuprofen) and aspirin for 1 week. Following treatment, no exercise or alcohol for 24 hours; no air travel for 4-5 days as the pressurization will create bruising. (There is always a risk of bruising and swelling, which generally lasts 3-6 days. We recommend icing post procedure and using arnica topically and orally.)

Description
Fillers are a great compliment to BOTOX® and Dysport® injections and/or laser resurfacing to address facial folds and wrinkles. Fillers also work to replace lost facial volume, which is a natural effect of aging. In addition to restoring facial volume, fillers can be used to augment the lips and even reshape the face, thereby giving the appearance of higher cheekbones or a stronger chin. In all these applications, dermal fillers provide good clinical results that last from four months to 2 years.

There are many types of dermal fillers which yield different results. When considering which filler is right for you, consider the amount of correction you are looking to achieve, the length of time you would like the correction to last and the amount of downtime you have. With these questions answered, Dr. Pennoyer would be pleased to advise you on which filler is right for you. Our goal is to make you look like yourself, refreshed and more youthful.

A key factor in determining the success rate is the ability of the doctor performing the procedure. Even with the same product, results can vary drastically depending on the expertise of the physician performing the procedure. We encourage all of our patients to ask for the credentials of their injector. In our office, Dr. Pennoyer is the only injector of dermal fillers and has been doing so for over 12 years.

A slightly different type of filler, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC injectable gel, is the first and only filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It gives you a subtle lift, helping to restore contour and a more youthful profile, for up to 2 years, in patients over the age of 21. It’s different than JUVÉDERM® XC and works on a different area of the face. JUVÉDERM® XC smoothes out moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, like parentheses. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC, however, adds volume to the cheek area. It is the first and only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area, resulting in a subtle lift and clinically proven to last up to 2 years with optimal treatment.

Restylane® Refyne & Restylane® Defyne are two, new hyaluronic acid gel fillers for laugh lines (nasolabial folds & marionette lines) which are made with XpresHAn Technology™ that helps maintain natural expression in motion. Now, your smiles, laughs, frowns and kisses look natural and supported. It’s is approved for a one year duration.
